Adsale Broadnet of the Adsale Group, an exhibition and conference organizer in China, and US-based Suite Technology Systems Networks agreed Monday to form a JV aimed at providing broadband access for Asian hotels.
The joint venture company will be known as STSN Adsale Asia and plans to provide hotel and property partners with high-speed Internet access in their guestrooms, meeting rooms, residential and office units, and conference and exhibition halls throughout the greater China region and ASEAN countries.
Bill Li, chief executive officer of STSN Adsale Asia, said that the DSL technology-based STSN solutions provide business travelers secure access to the Internet, e-mail and virtual private networks via their laptops, without re-configuration.
According to company officials, the STSN solution uses existing phone lines, allowing old and new buildings to enjoy this service. To use the service, the user plugs into an STSN access box using a standard Ethernet or USB cable and launches the browser.
By combining voice and data on the same telephone line, the STSN system allows users to talk on the phone while they use the Internet.
STSN president Will West said that Marriott International Inc. has chosen the STSN system as Marriott’s sole broadband Internet access system after a 24-month testing period in 40 Marriott hotels. The system is now deployed in Marriott’s 1,800 hotels worldwide.
Ritz-Carlton also signed a global agreement with STSN to install the STSN system in all of its guestrooms, meeting rooms and business centers.
