Tekelec, the North Carolina-based supplier of
network switching solutions and advanced diagnostic systems,
opened its European headquarters in Staines, Middlesex.
The move comes, said the vendor, in response to increased European demand for
its Eagle Signaling System 7 (SS7) and Internet Protocol (IP) solutions.
Tekelec appointed David Colbeck, formerly managing director of
Ericsson’s Cellular Systems and Terminals Division, as managing
director of Tekelec in Europe. Other London personnel include Neil
Tomlinson, director, market development, Europe; and Richard
Brayshaw, director, NSD European sales.
“David and his London-based team will work closely with our Raleigh, N.C. divisions
to expand our presence in European markets,” said Mike Margolis, president and CEO of Tekelec. “The spread of deregulation–combined with the rapid increase in competition among
European telecommunications operators–has created tremendous
opportunities for our Intelligent Network solutions.”
“Tekelec recognises the European carrier’s increased reliance on SS7 and Intelligent Network technologies,” Colbeck said. “As these carriers engineer their networks for greater bandwidth and
capacity to deploy new value-added Intelligent Network features, the
Eagle platform will meet these needs.”
