Telstra New Zealand has announced its
purchase of Netlink, New Zealand’s largest non-telco ISP.

Netlink services the business, education and government markets in New
Zealand and the acquisition is part of Telstra’s vision to become one of
the leading providers to business in the area.

Telstra managing director for product development Chris Wilkinson, said
that the Netlink purchase would have significant benefits for New Zealand.

“This will enhance the corporate, government and education offerings of
Telstra New Zealand to include a full suite of Internet, IP and
consultative services,” said Wilkinson.

He said current Netlink customers will benefit in the extended product
suite available to them with the blend of skills of Netlink staff and
Telstra’s ongoing commitment to research and development.

Netlink will continue to operate in Wellington but Telstra plans to expand
the companies offering throughout the country.
