Global telecommunications company
Teltran International and
the UK’s Norweb Telecom are about to launch Voice-over IP (VoIP) services
in the UK.

The collaboration between the two companies means that traffic
can be originated in the UK for worldwide distribution over
Teltran’s VoIP network — or originate overseas
and terminate in the UK.

“Our alliance with Norweb represents another significant step
in Teltran’s mission to build a worldwide presence in the VoIP arena,”
said Teltran president and CEO Byron R. Lerner.

“The UK is the gateway for Teltran as we continue to introduce
our VoIP network to the European community. The United Kingdom
is one of the world’s leading telecommunications centres and we
shall continue to expand our network as a result of our alliance
with Norweb.”

In September, Norweb and Telran first announced their
strategic alliance. The VoIP venture is the first project
resulting from it.

“I am tremendously excited that we have been able to execute
this part of the plan so quickly and I look forward with great
anticipation to the next step in our business plan as the
rollout between Teltran and Norweb moves into its next phase,”
said Mike Neville, Norweb’s director of wholesale services and
business development.

Both Norweb and Teltran provide voice and data services to
businesses. Teltran is licensed by the FCC as a global
facilities-based common carrier.
