ThruPoint Opens Netherlands Office

[London, ENGLAND] Internetworking solutions company
ThruPoint, Inc., of New York, announced Friday it has strengthened
its European presence by opening an office in The Netherlands.

ThruPoint believes there is significant growth potential in
the Low Countries for its technological services and solutions
aimed at the network architecture consulting industry.

With its European headquarters in London, ThruPoint appears
set to take a larger share of the market, expanding its
client list among major financial institutions, service providers,
and other blue-chip companies.

Bob Foley, president and chief operating officer, ThruPoint, said
the decision to tap the opportunities in The Netherlands is based
on growth opportunities driven by market demand.

“We are confident that the new office will enhance our presence in
Europe, and will allow us to play a significant role in the European
IT services industry,” said Foley.

Gartner Group’s Dataquest has estimated the internetworking market
in the Netherlands to be worth US $2.9 billion during 2000. This
will increase, says Dataquest, to over US $6.5 billion by 2004.

Robert Mieremet, ThruPoint’s regional director for The Netherlands
and Belgium, said that his team had already signed on its twelfth
client since opening for business a few weeks ago.

“Particularly in this region, the industry is evolving and becoming
increasingly focused on independent high-end networking solutions,”
explained Mieremet.

“This shift offers ThruPoint the opportunity to establish itself
as a premier provider of network architecture consulting services
in The Netherlands by meeting the growing demand for high quality
and innovative technology,” Mierement continued.

Mierement concluded by saying that ThruPoint is focused on achieving
growth on a global scale, and its expansion into The Netherlands
provides it with the capabilities to increase its client base and
enhance its existing professional relationships.

Currently, ThruPoint employs over 600 people and has locations
in 20 U.S. cities and at six locations in Europe.
