[Sydney, AUSTRALIA] Uecomm, the communications subsidiary of United Energy, has secured a AUS $12 million (US $7.2 million) extension to its existing service agreement with Intelligent Public Network (IPN) to provide additional managed network infrastructure for use in IPN’s national Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) network rollout.
This latest project furthers the AUS $4.2 million over four years agreement signed between Uecomm and IPN, a developer of networking solutions, in April this year.
Today’s contract extension brings the total value of the agreement to approximately AUS $16.2 million over a four year period and is subject to deployment projections being met by Uecomm and IPN.
“We want to be first-to-market with the most attractive IP networking offer for small- to mid-size firms,” said Melbourne-based IPN’s managing director Stephen Snowden. “The speed, features, pricing and cost-of-ownership advantages of Interspeed SDSL access routers help make that possible.”
The Interspeed SDSL access routers will be provided by Interspeed and co-located in Uecomm’s points-of-presence (POPs) in each city. IPN is supplying the advanced IP-based application services and data center, while Compaq will provide back-end infrastructure equipment, consulting, installation, system and site integration and maintenance support as well as financing. The core managed ATM based network backbone will be provided by Uecomm.
The announcement coincides with a statement by IPN in Australia that it is in the process of finalizing agreements with Compaq Computer Australia and Compaq Financial Services (Australia) for the provision of systems integration and support services to IPN.
