Unisys Brasil Offers E-Commerce App for Music Retailer

Unisys Brasil this week announced it developed an e-commerce solution to power a new online music retailer.

Unisys, through its service provider subsidiary Uninet, will provide e-commerce applications for Organizações Globo’s online music retail subsidiary Som Livre.

Under terms of the US$ 7.5 million agreement, Uninet developed the storefront’s firewall and encryption of users’ personal information. Uninet will also host Som Livre’s the e-commerce server. Internet users will now be able to buy from the site using their credit cards or direct billing in accounts in authorized banks, the company said.

Som Livre offers CDs from 150 labels worldwide, and more than 50,000 RealAudio files that users will be able to listen to before buying. The site also has daily news, calendars of shows, reviews of releases and a database with biographic data of many national and international artists.

Organizações Globo is also the parent company of Globo Cabo, which received a $126 investment from Microsoft last week, its first major move in Latin America. The two companies plan to offer advanced broadband and Internet services in Brazil.
