World Telecom Chooses Netcool

World Telecom plc has chosen Micromuse’s Netcool
for Windows NT suite of applications to ensure the availability of its
value-added voice service offerings.

Among these services, which
World Telecom is rapidly deploying, are pre- and post-paid calling
cards, single number voice/fax lines, cellular phone and discount PSTN
services.

“Because our network infrastructure and our portfolio of services are expanding at
such a rapid rate, we required a state-of-the-art management solution,” said Michael Segal, head of telecoms at World Telecom. “It was important for us to find a management solution capable of keeping
pace with us. Netcool will not only enable us to maintain high
service-level standards, but will grow with us as we broaden our
offerings and expand our customer base.”

The Netcool systems will be implemented in World Telecom’s switching
sites in the U.K., Spain, Italy, and the U.S. Significantly, they are
expected to provide a management foundation that will enable World
Telecom to expand into new areas, such as data and Internet-based
services.

Micromuse offers various versions of its Netcool product line, with the
Windows NT version–for which World Telecom has opted–being
functionally identical to the UNIX versions. All versions provide
out-of-the-box functionality. A key feature is the system’s scalability, allowing service providers to
expand easily and introduce new services.

Micromuse is headquartered in San Francisco, and can be reached at
