XcelleNet, a provider of systems management solutions for remote users, completed a project to help Reuters’ European Product Support Department distribute software applications to clients around the globe.

“We first purchased XcelleNet’s RemoteWare Express Session Manager and then used their consultancy service to design a tailor-made solution to build a complete web shell around the software,” said Ian Hamilton, Technical Information Executive at Reuters. “As a result we have been able to increase the speed of delivery of software to offer a value-added service to our internal customers.”

Reuters issues new products monthly on CD-ROM, but wanted an intranet system to publish software in-between the CD-ROM updates. With 396,000 end-users in 48,000 organisations, Reuters–the world’s leading news and financial information company–needed a large-scale solution.

The company implemented XcelleNet’s RemoteWare Express Session Manager in December 1997 at over 40 sites in 35 countries. Further expansion is now taking place according to Reuters.
