XYZed Launches Wholesale DSL Service

[Sydney, AUSTRALIA] Cable & WIreless Optus subsidiary XYZed has launched its wholesale DSL
service, announcing equipment rollout to 50 exchanges, with 50 more to
come.

XYZed claimed its service would reach approximately 75 percent of Australian
businesses. “The US experience shows DSL will be the largest competitor for
broadband services in the business market.,” said managing director Stephe
Wilks. “Our DSL capabilities will allow us to expand our access strategy –
to provide more cost effective services to our customers and to grow new
markets for high-speed access in the future.”

XYZed did not disclose its pricing strategy, but said it would “not only
reach more business customers, but to do so profitably.” A company statement
claimed XYZed would compete directly with Telstra.
