Close on the heels of its auction expansion into Europe, Yahoo! Inc. Wednesday rolled out regionalized versions of its auction service to its Yahoo! Japan and Yahoo! Singapore sites.
Item listings are free, with English-language auctions available in Singapore and Japanese-language bidding on the Yahoo! Japan auction site.
“Our aggressive international expansion shows that Yahoo! is committed to building a global auctions platform that provides buyers and sellers with an interactive commerce marketplace where people can find local items available around the world,” said Mark Inkster, Yahoo!’s director of international operations.
Yahoo! Japan topped the popularity polls in Japan last month, according to the Nippon Research Center. The Japanese site was formed in conjunction with Asia Internet heavyweight Softbank.
Last week, Yahoo!
(YHOO) launched the auction service on its Spain, Sweden and Italy sites. Yahoo! Charity Auctions have also accompanied each debut.
In the past five months, Yahoo! has launched its
auctions services in ten of its international properties, and now boasts auctions available in seven languages.
