Santa Clara, CA-based Autoweb.com, an online car buying service,
will become the exclusive auto classifieds provider on CBS Sportsline.
Autoweb.com said it will have a dominant presence in auto-related content,
such as NASCAR and Formula One racing stories and forums. Financial details
were not disclosed.
The agreement is intended to extend awareness for the Autoweb.com brand among
key audiences, including auto racing and sports fans. The partnership also
supports the site’s overall move to integrate with other car-related sites and
become a one-stop automotive enthusiast community.
CBS Sportsline users will be able to connect to Autoweb.com through a button
link in the Auto Racing area and in the Sportsline Score Center. The company
is also considering further cooperative arrangements with Sportsline,
including possible co-promotions and co-branding.
Autoweb.com said it has grown exponentially in the last year, increasing its
dealer membership from 200 to more than 1,800 since 1996, and growing its
monthly purchase request flow from 15,000 in January 1997 to more than 230,000
in December.
