ZDTV, an affiliate of Ziff-Davis, said
that Egghead.com’s virtual superstore will
contribute live online advertising to Internet Tonight, its daily program
about the Internet.
“This alliance creates one of the first partnerships of convergence
advertising: live television via ZDTV combined with real-time information from
Egghead.com’s Web site,” said Richard Fisher, executive vice president of
ZDTV and ZDTV productions.
Under the terms of the sponsorship, advertisements for Egghead.com will air
during each Internet Tonight television show. During the advertisement, a
dedicated portion of one of the Egghead.com Web sites will be seen live on
ZDTV, featuring a special value on computer hardware or software. Financial
arrangements were not disclosed.
“Last year, we set Egghead on a new course, to focus its business exclusively
on Internet-based commerce,” said George Orban, chairman and CEO of
Egghead.com, which recently closed its bricks and mortar stores.
“Internet Tonight’s
audience of people who care passionately about the Web is perfect for us
because they’re already comfortable with online shopping. They’re the
trendsetters who’ll spread the word about the convenience and values that can
be found on Egghead.com.”
Egghead.com operates a virtual superstore on the Internet via three Web sites:
www.egghead.com, www.surplusdirect.com and www.surplusauction.com. The company
offers discounted prices on computer related products, consumer electronics,
small household appliances, jewelry, sporting goods and other merchandise
including surplus and liquidation goods.
