E-mail publisher InfoBeat in Denver, CO reportedly has filed a patent
infringement suit against rival Email Publishing in Boulder, CO.

The suit, filed in U.S. District Court in Denver, alleges that Email Publishing Inc. infringed
on InfoBeat’s patented personalized e-mail
Technology, according to an Advertising Age report.

InfoBeat applied for a patent on this technology April 6, 1995, and was
notified on Aug. 11, 1998 it would be grantedt.

Email Publishing said it believed the case was without merit.

“We’re going to defend it vigorously,” said Andrew Currie, president and CEO of Email
Publishing. Email Publishing is about to be acquired by
San Diego-based First Virtual Holdings.
