The Hong Kong chapter of the Internet Advertising Bureau was formally
launched on Nov. 20 at the Asia Internet Advertising Forum in Hong Kong with
the main goal of promoting the Internet as means of advertising in Hong Kong.
“We want to encourage widespread membership so that everyone has an
opportunity to influence the Internet in Hong Kong,” said Christopher Justice,
the general manager of the SCMP PostNet and spokesman for the new chapter.
Other charter IAB Hong Kong members include ACNielsen, AT&T, China Internet
Corp., Hong Kong Telecom IMS, Microsoft, Yahoo!, Internet.com and Saatchi &
Saatchi among others.
Internet heavyweights in Hong Kong believe that the IAB is necessary because
companies in the Hong Kong advertising industry lack understanding of how to
utilize the Internet. IAB Hong Kong will attempt to accomplish its mission by
holding quarterly
conferences on such topics as technology, standards, research, and marketing
applications, and awarding agencies for creativity and effectiveness.
