U S WEST Dex to Provide YP Services to Palm VII Organizer

U S WEST Dex Internet Yellow Pages, a regional
provider of nationwide business listings information, said it will deliver its
Internet yellow pages content wirelessly to users of the Palm VII(TM)
connected organizer.

The organizer is being manufactured by Palm Computing Inc., a 3Com company.

The new Palm VII connected organizer, announced at the Palm Computing Platform
Worldwide Developer Conference, will provide fast, secure and easy out-of-the-
box access to personal, business and Internet information as well as a means
of instant two-way personal communications, the company said.

Access to the U S WEST Dex Internet Yellow Pages, with information on more
than 18 million nationwide business listings in more than 4,500 categories, is
built in. Financial details of the arrangement were not disclosed.

“Palm Computing’s inclusion of the U S WEST Dex Internet Yellow Pages on the
product gives Palm VII users the ability to get nationwide business listings,
as well as information about businesses’ products and services, from virtually
anywhere in the country at any time,” said Chad Roffers, director of business
development and e-commerce for the U S WEST Dex Internet Yellow Pages.

“With U S WEST as a partner, we’re able to give our customers fast and easy
access to virtually any listing in the country at their fingertips,” said
Andrea Butter, acting vice president of marketing for Palm Computing. “As we
continue to pioneer the wireless handheld computing industry, companies like U
S WEST help us to deliver the most compelling and comprehensive information
access solutions available.”

U S WEST Dex Internet Yellow Pages enhanced services for the Palm VII include
a proximity search to locate businesses within one, two, five or 10 miles of
an address; the ability to link to a business’s Web site or to e-mail
addresses are under development.

The Palm VII organizer enters a national field trial in January 1999, and is
expected to be widely available in the United States next year.
