iCat to Offer DoubleClick Ad Packages

Apr 29, 1998

E-commerce solution provider iCat Corp. said it partnered with ad network DoubleClick Inc. to establish a cooperative banner advertising system for users of iCat’s iCat Commerce Online and the iCat Electronic Commerce Suite.

iCat Commerce Online is a combination of information, technology and services designed to provide small and medium-sized businesses with everything they need for electronic commerce.

“As an integrated marketing service within iCat Commerce Online, DoubleClick makes it easy for online merchants to advertise within their budgets and drive traffic to their stores,” said Kevin O’Connor, CEO of DoubleClick.

Small businesses with new iCat-supported Web sites can complete a short form on www.icat.com and pick from several ad packages that offer a choice of monthly dollar amounts, geographical regions, and targeted content areas.

Ad packages will be available with monthly pricing at $100, $250, $500, $1,000
and more. iCat will also provide design partners for merchants who don’t have
access to resources to create their own banner ads. The service will be
available in two weeks.

“Creating a great online store is not enough,” said Craig Danuloff, president
and CEO of Seattle-based iCat. “To prosper on the Web merchants also have to
use targeted online advertising, promotions, and more. This unique offering
puts online advertising within the reach of smaller merchants who could
previously not take advantage of this marketing technique.”

Financial terms of the arrangement were not disclosed.
