IDG.net Year-to-Year Growth Rises 311%

“Illustrating the increasing value advertisers place on targeted Web advertising,” IDG.net, the IDG Online Network, posted the largest revenue growth of all leading Web publishers, according to a recent industry newsletter report.

Simba Information’s Electronic Advertising & Marketplace Report said that IDG.net experienced year-to-year revenue growth of more than 311%–more than any other ad-supported publishing operation.

According to the report’s estimates, the Web ad market totaled nearly $380 million in the second quarter of 1998, up 153.3% from $149.7 million in the second quarter of 1997, and is expected to exceed $1 billion in 1998.

IDG’s growth as reported in the newsletter included only the 15 of the company’s 225 sites that are located in the U.S. Growth in advertising in IDG’s non-U.S. sites is occurring even more rapidly than within the U.S., the company said.

IDG.net is a network of sites in 55 countries worldwide, including the Computerworld, InfoWorld, Network World and PC World product families.
