Imagine Media Inc. Acquires ICONOCAST

San Francisco-based Imagine Media has acquired ICONOCAST, an e-mail list and Web site
for Internet advertisers and marketers.

Imagine said the acquisition is an important step in executing its new media
strategy. One of the key content areas being targeted by the company is
“Internet market intelligence,” for which ICONOCAST will be a cornerstone.
Financial details were not disclosed.

“Michael Tchong (of ICONOCAST) has built a strong reputation as the
Internet’s leading market research guru,” said Imagine CEO Chris Anderson.
“ICONOCAST is already a must-read for anyone interested in marketing and
media in the late 1990s. We look forward to helping the brand realize its
true potential.”

ICONOCAST will continue to be edited by Tchong (founder of CyberAtlas, a
market research Web site acquired in 1996 by I/PRO, and MacWEEK)
and will assume the corporate title of chief information architect.

Launched in February 1997, ICONOCAST provides marketers with a weekly
overview of Internet marketing, including market segment overviews, Web
advertising and Internet market research.

Imagine now has a portfolio of six monthly consumer technology magazines and
several networks of sites that claim 200,000 unique visitors daily.
