K2 Design Founder Internet Retail Venture

David Centner, the former chairman, CEO and co-founder of K2 Design Inc. recently
entered the kids clothing business, accepting a position as the CEO
and president of the new Internet venture FrenchToast.com.

“Basically, I’d been at K2 for four and a half years, and the company reached
a level of stability,” Centner told the Silicon Alley Reporter. “I’m the kind of guy who likes a blank canvas–that’s what I was trained for–and K2 is not a blank canvas anymore.”

Centner said there was no ill will associated with his departure. The offer
fell into his lap while he was writing a few of his own business plans and
looking for investors, he was quoted as saying.

French Toast makes children’s apparel, and is the largest school uniform
supplier in the U.S. FrenchToast.com will be an independently operated e-
commerce unit of Lollytogs Ltd., which will provide funding. Lollytogs owns
the French Toast label, along with the Cotler brand and the new urban
sportswear brand Rim Rocka.

Centner would not disclose marketing details, but said, “I think it’s going to
take a lot of people by surprise.”
