Lycos Teams with New Line Cinema to Host Movie Web Site

Mar 25, 1998

Lycos Inc. signed an exclusive agreement
with
New Line Cinema to host the
“Lost in Space”
Web site, calling it “the largest-ever online
promotion of a movie title.”

Lycos will receive prominent branding on the site, exclusive Web search
rights and
provide sweepstakes giveaways to promote the site through www.lycos.com.
“Lost in Space” is set to open in movie theaters nationwide on April 3.

The “Lost in Space” Web site is already receiving more than 250,000 hits per
day, according to Lycos. It is expected to garner significantly more visitors
with the fully-integrated promotional campaign by Lycos and New Line’s
advertising and promotion campaigns for the movie and the Web site.

Lycos said it teamed with New Line to increase traffic to the Lycos Web site
and reinforce its brand among consumers both online and off. By hosting
dangerwillrobinson.com and providing back-end support for the site with
its proprietary search technology, users can search for pictures,
sounds, personal home pages or news about the movie.

Interactive options featured include Create Your Own Planet,
Penny’s World, Harmonic Planet, Science Planet, Dr. Smith’s Evil Asteroid
and Get The Robot!

Among the sweepstake prizes are Sun Microsystem’s “Lost in Space”
robot kiosk, a trip to Hawaii at Outrigger resorts, a trip to Space Camp and
other movie-related merchandise.
