PC Flowers Names New Marketing Team

PC Flowers & Gifts named a
new management team to lead and build the marketing department.

Tom Ponosuk was named executive vice president of marketing and Marie L.
vanRooyen was named director of marketing and product development.

Ponosuk will cultivate new marketing partner opportunities, test and develop
marketing programs and coordinate marketing communications for PC Flowers &
Gifts’s current 600 plus co-marketing partners.

vanRooyen will be responsible for product development in the floral and gift
categories, coordinating and implementing marketing programs and strategies,
managing the outsourcing of the PC Flowers & Gifts order processing, customer
support and telephone services which are now provided by the Fingerhut
companies.

The objective of the marketing department will be to expand the number of co-
marketing partners to over 1,000 by the end of 1998, the company said.

Along with the Marketing Partner Program, the team will develop other
promotional programs, including graphic banner ads and a monthly sweepstakes
with thousands of monthly prizes and an annual grand prize of $5 million.
Total spending on the ad campaign was not disclosed.

Ponosuk had been director of finance industry marketing at Prodigy, the
largest advertising category on the Prodigy service. Later he became the Vice
President of Electronic Commerce at the Beneficial Management Corp., where he
managed a team that built and marketed Internet lending solutions.

vanRooyen’s experience includes 14 years of active involvement in the
creation, implementation and marketing of online, interactive content and e-
commerce programs, including over 10 years with Prodigy. She was instrumental
in the marketing and online introduction of PC Flowers, the earlier
incarnation of PC Flowers & Gifts, when it launched on Prodigy in 1989.
