Romance Site Finds a Valentine Advertiser

The Globe online community
site
said that Carter-Wallace, a manufacturer of personal care products,
will be the exclusive advertiser of its Romance area for a Valentine’s Day
promotion.

A contest at the site will feature a month-long search for the ideal romantic
tryst initiated and nurtured at The Globe, which claims more than a million
users. Trojan condoms, Nair depilatories, Pearl Drops toothpolish, Arrid
antiperspirants and First Response ovulation and pregnancy tests are the
exclusive advertisers on the “Love Stories at The Globe” sweepstakes.
Spending was not disclosed.

Members have been encouraged to submit their tales
of true love to The Globe. Each week, beginning January 22, three of the
most compelling love stories will be selected, counting down until Valentine’s
Day. Winners will qualify for a grand prize drawing on February 12, at
which time
three contestants will be chosen to have one dozen roses delivered to their
sweetheart anywhere in the world on Valentine’s Day.

New York-based The Globe’s Romance theme areas include the Dear Lola advice
column, Singles Bar Chat Rooms, and Babble-on discussion forums on romance.

The “Love Stories” sweepstakes will generate traffic to “The Guide to Love and
Sex”
, Carter Product’s official Web site. The Web site, which offers a mix
of romance-related information and “fun and sexy things to do,” represents
five of America’s favorite personal products, all manufactured by Carter
Products, a division of Carter-Wallace Inc.
