StarMedia Network, an online network in
Latin America focused on building a global community for Spanish- and
Portuguese-speaking audiences, named Liz Sarachek as director of sales and
strategic initiatives.

Sarachek will develop relationships with the U.S.-based advertising community
looking to reach the Latin consumer through online channels.

The company said the position was created to enable StarMedia to meet the need
for strategic online insight with regard to U.S.-based advertisers seeking to
penetrate the Latin American Internet market.

Sarachek comes from Time Inc., where she most recently was responsible for
opening a Latin America regional office for Fortune magazine. Prior
to that,
Sarachek worked with Dow Jones & Co. Inc. where she worked on global accounts
with U.S. multi-national companies that advertised in both print and on pan-
regional television in Latin America, Asia, and Europe.

StarMedia Network provides online information, entertainment, communications
and retail services to a broad-based audience in Spanish and Portuguese. The
network consists of interactive, community-oriented services and an array of
channels.

The network offers free, in-language e-mail services, a search engine that
supports country-by-country, regional and worldwide searches in both Spanish
and Portuguese, and an in-language guide to the Internet bundled with
Netscape’s new Spanish and Portuguese language browsers.
