New York City-based community site theglobe.com signed a million-dollar
partnership/sponsorship deal with Stockplayer.com, a business and financial
Web site.

Stockplayer.com will sponsor 21 stock
chats, 11 sponsorships and the new “Stockplayer.com Portfolio Challenge”
promotion.

“This seven-figure deal represents the business community’s affirmation of our
community model,” said Stephan Paternot, co-CEO of theglobe.com. “Our ability to offer clients
a more unique mix of advertising components ensures theglobe.com a bigger and
better response rate from new and existing partners.”

Beginning in April, the “Stockplayer.com Portfolio Challenge” will allow users
to build a mock portfolio with $1 million in play money. Stockplayer.com will
distribute camcorders, DVDs, VCRs and big-screen televisions to the winners.
The promotion will run three times during the remainder of the year.

Stockplayer.com will also sponsor 11 special sports and holiday events at
theglobe.com including the NCAA Basketball Tournament, U.S. Open Golf,
Wimbledon, Father’s Day, World Series, Thanksgiving and 1999 Winter holidays.

In addition, users will also be able to participate in several Stockplayer.com
sponsored “Stock Chats” a month where a variety of topics will be discussed
including “How to Invest Online,” “Picking Stocks” and “Building a Balanced
Portfolio.”

theglobe.com will also feature Stockplayer.com’s “Stock Pick” e-mail
newsletter within theglobe.com’s registration and Business and Finance theme
pages. The partnership also includes special advertising targeting to
theglobe.com’s user base through banners, buttons and contextual links.

Stockplayer.com provides individual investors with company profiles, quotes
and financial information.
