Student Net Publishing, Zip2 Partner

Student Net Publishing’s Student.Com, which offers original daily
content covering all aspects of college life, formed a distribution
partnership with Zip2 Corp., a provider
of local, ad-backed online city guides and directories.


Zip2 will integrate Student.Com’s content into its own material which is
distributed through its nationwide network of 152 online newspapers. Visitors
to the Zip2 site searching for student- or college-related keywords will also
be directed to Student.Com content.


And Student.Com members will have access to Zip2’s city guide/directory and
mapping services. Financial terms of the arrangement were not disclosed.


Student Net Publishing LLC, was founded by students at Yale and Columbia
universities in 1995 to provide college students with quality online content.
Backed by US WEST Media Group, the company derives revenue from advertising,
electronic commerce, and content syndication.


Mountainview, CA-based Zip2’s sales and marketing teams work with its network
of media companies to facilitate local sales of online advertising and build
revenue for its local city guides. Other partners include The New York
Times
, Knight-Ridder, Landmark Communications, Morris Communications,
McClatchy Newspapers, Central Newspapers, and newspapers in the Hearst,
Times Mirror, Scripps Howard, Media General, Pulitzer Publishing, and
Freedom Communications chains.
