The Ad Council Launches Redesigned Web Site

The Advertising Council launched a newly redesigned Web site, creating a new interactive home for some of its most memorable characters, including Smokey the Bear, McGruff the Crime Dog and Vince and Larry.

US Interactive donated its creative services to the site redesign.

The site features campaign descriptions of the Ad Council’s more than 40
public service education campaigns sponsored by non-profits and government
agencies; news that affects the campaigns and public service advertising; and
research on topics including what Americans think about today’s kids and case
studies on public service advertising.

AdCouncil.org offers services to public service directors including a PSA
“bank” of Real Audio and Real Video Clips of current Ad Council PSAs;
storyboards and scripts; an order form to request PSAs electronically; and an
events calendar, covering everything from Father’s Day to National Fitness
Month.

The site also gives the Internet community an opportunity to fulfill its
responsibility by running public service ads in the form of Web banners.

“The Ad Council has embraced the Internet as a potent medium for getting our
messages heard and helping people, from casual surfers, to students to media
gatekeepers, to learn more about the Ad Council and our campaigns,” said Ad Council President Ruth Wooden. “The site is a one-of-a-kind information hub for anyone interested in public service advertising.”

The Advertising Council is a private, nonprofit organization, which has been
the leading producer of public service communications programs in the United
States since 1942, supporting campaigns that benefit children, families and
communities.
