IDG’s The Industry Standard, a
newsmagazine
focused on the Internet economy, named Jonathan W. Chalon, formerly the
international advertising director at Inc. magazine, as its new East Coast ad
director.

Based in New York City, Chalon will be responsible for servicing San
Francisco-based The Industry Standard’s existing East Coast client base as
well as introducing new customers to the benefits of advertising in a
publication aimed at influential Internet business executives.

“We’re starting to see how the Web levels the playing field for small- and
medium-sized companies competing against larger, more established
competitors,” said John Battelle, president and publisher of The Industry
Standard. “Jon understands this market extremely well and I am confident that
his experience will introduce new customers to the benefits of advertising
with The Industry Standard.”

Chalon held a variety of positions at Inc. magazine during his 11 years there.
>From February 1995 to the present, he was international advertising director;
from September 1993 to February 1995 he was New York sales director; from July
1991 to September 1993, he was international advertising manager; from
November 1987 to July 1991, he was Inc.’s eastern regional manager and had
regional and national responsibility for Inc.’s Business Month spin-off.
