Advertising rep firm Winstar
Interactive
on Monday said it had created an “Internet-Everywhere”
group, which will focus on selling ad opportunities on non-PC platforms.

The first company added to Winstar Interactive’s client list under this
initiative is Awaymed.com, which
provides personalized information services through terminals in doctors’
offices and through a Web.

“As access to the Internet moves beyond the personal computer, ‘access
points’ such as kiosks and sophisticated hand-held wireless devices present
marketers with unparalleled opportunities to create personalized time and
place specific advertising programs that directly target prequalified
consumers,” says Bobbie Halfin, president of Winstar Interactive.

Companies that develop and place kiosks at strategic locations aimed at
reaching consumers is a burgeoning business. Besides Awaymed.com, Interlane Media is placing
flat-panel displays in supermarket check-out lines, and the Next Generation Network is placing displays
in various places, including elevators. CarroSELL and Get2Net are both targeting airports,
but the former places flat-panel displays on baggage claim carousels, while
the latter runs Internet kiosks for business travelers.
