RSA SecurityWednesday unveiled the first in a series of enhancements planned for its RSA Keon Certificate
Authoritysoftware.
The RSA Keon CA software is designed to allow end users to encrypt and digitally sign important e-mail communications, including any
type of attachments. RSA said the software allows organizations to define and self-administer their own security procedures, trust
relationships, certificate formats and rules for certificate life cycles.
The Bedford, Mass.-based company said the software is designed to seamlessly integrate with both Microsoft Exchange Server and
Microsoft Outlook clients.
RSA said the new enhancements will allow organizations to:
- Implement an integrated secure e-mail solution across the enterprise that requires no client software other than a standard
Outlook client - Automatically set configuration for signing and encrypting e-mails when users enroll for certificates, eliminating the need for
users to configure e-mail clients and designate which certificates should be used for signing and encryption - Insert sign and encrypt buttons on the toolbar
- Publish certificates into the Microsoft Exchange Server Global Address List (GAL), allowing users to send secure e-mail to any
other user in the system without prior interaction.
“By transparently adding enhanced security to each e-mail message, RSA Keon CA software makes it possible to increase confidence in
the identification, privacy and verification of e-mail communications,” said Bill McQuaide, senior vice president, Authentication
Products division at RSA.
The new enhancements are immediately available and support Outlook 2000 and 1998, Exchange Server 5.5 and Exchange Directory,
Exchange 2000 and Active Directory.
