Colubris Networks, a member of the Wireless Ethernet Compatibility Alliance (WECA), announced today that it has secured agreements enabling it to sell WLAN products to both the US and Canadian governments.

Specifically, Colubris has signed reseller agreements with The Baxter Goup, GAITS Corporation, and RF Microsystems, Inc. to sell its secure WLAN routers. Industry analyst Gemma Paulo, from Cahners In-Stat stated that security concerns have been a major roadblock to the widespread deployment of WLANs but, “with their CN1000 family of secure wireless products, Colubris Networks have created the perfect solutions for this market.

Colubris Networks’ WLAN products feature integrated Virtual Private Networking (VPN) technology, which adds to the security features of the networks. The products are Wi-Fi certified.

Colubris Networks stated that their products are designed to serve multiple-sized network infrastructures ranging from local municipal offices to the scale required by something like a national defense department.

Colubris Networks, Inc., headquartered in Quebec, is a member of WECA and a sponsor member of the Wireless LAN Association (WLANA). Products are based on open industry standards and incorporate Wi-Fi networking technology, enhanced security and firewall technologies.
