Continuing its partnering strategy, wireless LAN
Colubris Networks is teaming with equipment provider ARRIS TeleWire Supply
to offer Wi-Fi
The sales, marketing and support deal was announced today at the Society of
Cable Telecommunications Engineer’s Cable-Tec Expo in Orlando, Fla.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Under the pact, ARRIS will provide integration and support services for all
of Colubris’ Wi-Fi access products, making it easier for cable companies to
deploy hotspots
airports, hotels and convention centers.
“Wi-Fi is an ideal element for driving the cable [operators’] opportunity
with enterprise customers,” Barry Fougere, president and CEO of Colubris
Networks, said in a statement.
The companies also announced the first customer for the joint offering —
Time Warner Cable’s Houston systems, which boasts 720,000 subscribers.
The service provider, part of the Time Warner media
conglomerate, offers Road Runner “Speed Zones” using equipment and services
from Colubris and ARRIS.
For Colubris, ARRIS TeleWire Supply, a subsidiary of ARRIS, is the most recent addition to its partner list.
Last year, the Waltham, Mass.-based firm teamed with Wificom Technologies, a
provider of back-end services for hotspot operators as well as network
equipment heavy hitters Juniper Networks and Alcatel
.
In addition to partnerships with equipment vendors, Colubris Networks also
works with partners that can support and manage access control and policy
management for networks of any size.
