The wireless division of Jacksonville, FL-based ParkerVision , Direct2Data Technologies, is now shipping its PV-2000TR multi-mode 802.11a/b/g RF transceiver in volume, months early than expected.
The product uses the company’s patented D2D radio technology optimized for direct conversion transceivers, replacing traditional two-stage superheterodyne frequency mixers and translators that have been around for decades.
The PV-2000TR has an “ultra-small” reference design footprint for use in not just regular network cards but as an embedded product for items like handsets.
PV-2000 products were announced last month and were not expected to be sampling until the first half of 2003.
In the release, David Sorrells, ParkerVision’s CTO and Direct2Data Technologies co-founder, said, “Our offering gives product developers and wireless manufacturers the advantage to cost effectively choose any or all combinations of the legacy 802.11b, as well as the emerging 802.11g, and 802.11a wireless standards to tailor products to their customer’s needs.”
