Resonext Introduces Two 802.11a Chip Sets

Resonext Communications announced today the introduction of its RN5200 family of 5 GHz Wi-Fi (802.11a) chip sets designed for client and access point (AP) platform integration.

Resonext chip sets incorporate what it calls True-Zero IF 5 GHz radio, flexible Media Access Control (MAC), Access Point on a Chip (APoC) architecture and AccuChannel equalization technology. The chip sets also incorporate IEEE 802.11i security features.

The two chip set solutions are comprised of an integrated RF chip and baseband /MAC IC – each built on a standard 0.18-micron, 1.8 -volt CMOS process.

The AP chip set consists of the RN5200R radio and the RN5200P baseband/MAC IC. The client chip set is comprised of the RN5200R radio and RN5200C baseband/MAC IC.

Further details about the chip architecture are available at the company’s Web site.

In a related announcement, the company announced that it has licensed the ARM9222T processor core for integration into the RN5200 chip sets. It also licensed the ARM AMBA on-chip interconnect technology that, along with the ARM922T core, forms the basic building blocks of its MAC and APoc architecture used in the RN5200 chip sets.

More details about the ARM integration can be found at the Resonext Web site.
