Wireless networking gear maker SMC has started shipping new enterprise-class access points that support the 802.11a, 802.11b, and 802.11g standards.
The $800 EliteConnect Universal Wireless Access Point supports the Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) security protocol and up to 152-bit Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) encryption, as well as 802.1x authentication and dynamic key management. It also supports FUNK Odyssey and Microsoft RADIUS Server, MAC address authentication, disabled SSID broadcast, and VLANs.
Network administrators can manage the APs via a Web or command line interface, or using SMC’s EliteView software.
