Ecutel, an Alexandria, Virginia-based mobile networking software developer, announced today that its Viatores WLAN Edition Software has been selected to be demonstrated and tested by Bechtel Telecommunications. The actual testing and demo will take place at Bechtel’s Training, Development and Research (TDR) lab in Frederick, MD.

The Bechtel lab is designed to evaluate network equipment, technology, and design. Bechtel Telecommunications is a unit of Bechtel Corporation, a privately held, San Francisco based company with more than 50,000 employees worldwide.

Ecutel’s Viatores WLAN Edition is designed to enable secure roaming between LANs, WLANs, and WLAN subnets. Ecutel stated that this prevents the types of security problems that have plagued WLANs. The company also stated that its solution creates persistent connectivity while eliminating the need for restarting applications and simultaneously reducing network administration costs.
