Microsoft Offers Up Security Tools at Black Hat

Jan 20, 2011

Microsoft is making its presence known at the Black Hat security conference this year, even before the thing gets started.

Ahead of the event, underway this week just outside Washington, D.C., the software giant released a string of security tools it has been testing internally for wider use, in the hopes that they will result in more secure software development.

One of the beta releases, dubbed the Attack Surface Analyzer, monitors for changes in a Microsoft operating system that could increase security vulnerabilities as new applications are added.

Additionally, Microsoft is releasing what it calls the BinScope Binary Analyzer 1.2, and a new version of its SDL Threat Modeling Tool.

eSecurity Planet reports on Microsoft’s new security offerings at Black Hat.
