Kaspersky Mobile Security 9 is out and provides safeguards for Android and BlackBerry smartphone users, such as the ability to find lost or stolen handsets and to remotely secure the data on those devices.
Kaspersky Lab already offers a host of similar services for Symbian and Windows Mobile phones, but is extending its scope to BlackBerry devices and smartphones running the Google-backed Android OS.
It’s no surprise that the Internet security firm would want to support BlackBerrys, a stalwart in the mobile enterprise space for years. And, with Android devices being adopted at a rapid clip, the company will remain current with compatibility for that mobile OS as well.
The move by Kaspersky mirrors what’s happening in the mobile management software space, as vendors scramble to offer broader support for the multiple versions of mobile devices and associated mobile operating systems.
Key features of Kaspersky Mobile Security 9 include the ability to locate and protect loss or stolen smartphones, a remote wipe tool and data filtering for privacy protection.
