iPlanet E-Commerce Solutions, a
Sun-Netscape Alliance operation, launched iPlanet TradingXpert Bid/Quote
Extension software that allows users to automate the process of getting the
best supplier at the best price.
The Web-based app is an add-on module for the iPlanet TradingXpert software
and is targeted for enterprises, Application Service Providers (ASPs) and
Internet Service Providers (ISPs).
“While there is much talk about auctions today, an easier means for
enterprises to obtain materials, temporary staff and other supplies is
through the bid/quote process,” said Carol Adams, vice president of product
marketing for iPlanet E-Commerce Applications.
“The iPlanet TradingXpert
Bid/Quote Extension software provides ready-to-use functionality,
scaleability and flexibility, resulting in decreased cost for buyers,
increased revenue for suppliers and ease-of-use for both.”
The Bid/Quote Extension enhances iPlanet’s Internet trading community
solution and extends it from supporting an exchange transaction model to a
bid/quote transaction model. The Extension software is priced at $40,000 per
CPU and is scheduled to be available for purchase in May.
