HomeCom Communications Inc., a provider of secure software solutions for financial business applications, said that Christopher Schroeder, formerly director of electronic commerce for CheckFree Corp., joined the company as vice president of the software products division.

Schroeder will manage the design and distribution of the Atlanta-based company’s Internet financial products.

For the past seven years, Schroeder worked at CheckFree in a variety of roles, including project and product management, and business development.

Specifically, he managed the pricing, marketing, and product direction for home banking and bill payment, developed partnerships with data processors and ATM networks, and headed efforts to integrate e-commerce into CheckFree’s software products.

HomeCom has several products designed for e-commerce in the financial services industry. Personal Internet Banker (PIB) is a suite of Internet banking applications built on the Microsoft Internet Finance Server Toolkit. PIB provides a bank with the ability to service its Internet customers as well as to integrate with today’s cutting-edge home financial applications (Quicken and Microsoft Money).

HomeCom’s newest product, OneStep Internet Bank, starts at $150 per month, and establishes a Web presence in a matter of days for community banks, thrifts and credit unions.
