CyberSource Achieves ISO 9002 Certification

San Jose, CA-based CyberSource Corp.
said that its Global
Rights Registry has become “the first Internet commerce services company to
receive certification to the internationally recognized business quality
assurance standard–ISO 9002.”

ISO 9002 certification indicates that CyberSource’s Global Rights Registry
Services meet the consistently high level of excellence that such customers as
Lotus, Microsoft and Novell (also with ISO 9000 certification) exhibit.

“From a business process standpoint, CyberSource’s achievement is an
indication that the relatively new discipline of Internet commerce is starting
to come of age,”
said analyst David Baltaxe of the Virginia-based competitive intelligence firm
Current Analysis Inc.

The ISO 9000 family of standards represents an international consensus of good
management practices with the aim of ensuring that the organization can time
and again deliver the product or services that meet the client’s quality
requirements. CyberSource Global Rights Registry Services received ISO 9002
certification from the British Standards Institute (BSI).

CyberSource provides worldwide intellectual and digital property rights
management services. Services include digital product preparation and
warehousing; issuance and validation of licenses for software and other
intellectual property; and issuance and
validation of digital rights certificates that permit access to “protected”
content or that are redeemable for a stipulated value.

“With Internet commerce growing globally at an explosive rate, companies
require the utmost assurance of proficient handling and rapid delivery of
their digital products as they move to increase their distribution reach and
flexibility,” said Nigel Tranter, director of CyberSource’s Global Rights
Registry. “We have reached the point where digital content vendors cannot
settle for anything less than world-class quality when selling their goods and
services.”
