Open Market Inc. said
that KPN Telecom, the largest telecommunications company in the Netherlands,
has licensed its Transact e-commerce product.

KPN plans to commerce-enable its small to midsize corporate customers,
enabling end consumers to purchase goods and services over the Web.

“We chose Open Market software for our secure Internet commerce platform,
because this solution allowed us to operate as a commerce service provider,”
said Bert van Gerwen, manager of electronic commerce for KPN. “Using Transact,
we are able to offer an out-of-the-box platform that securely manages
transactions over the Internet for our merchants and their buyers.”

“On top of that, the Open Market platform is open, allowing any storefront
tool to be
integrated, which enables our merchants the opportunity to choose almost any
content creation tool that best meets their needs.”

KPN plans to launch its new service in November, supporting storefront and
Internet commerce functionality, in addition to Web hosting and Internet
access.
