eDedication.com Inc., a personal
communication service and gift center, launched the beta version of its site
that allows anyone to dedicate one of more than 700,000 popular hit music
clips to someone else.
The music dedicated plays within the browser; no plug-ins or other
applications are needed. Dedicating a song is as simple as sending an e-mail,
the company said.
The eDedication.com service is based on on-air radio dedications, which have
become part of pop culture over the past 50 years.
eDedication.com also
serves as an online music store, allowing either the dedicator or dedication
recipient to purchase any of the music found on eDedication.com
Most clips are 30 seconds long; classical and jazz clips are 60 seconds each.
A search engine allows site visitors to search by artist, by album or by song
or do a combination search.
eDedication.com was founded by Christopher V. Sherman, also the founder of
UGO LLC, now UGO Networks Inc., a publisher and aggregator
of entertainment on the Internet. In 1994, Sherman founded the newswire
service Multimedia Wire.
