Egghead.com, Inc., which recently closed its retail stores to become a Web-only operation, announced today it has become a premier computer and software merchant on Yahoo!.
The agreement is another example of how retailers continue to position themselves within the major Web networks in an effort to enhance the distribution of their products.
Egghead.com said it is the first computer-related merchant in Yahoo!’s premier merchant program, a service that already features merchants for autos, videos, books, travel, music, and online stock trading.
Under the agreement, Egghead.com merchant buttons will be placed throughout computer-related areas of the main Yahoo! directory, and will feature on co-branded Yahoo! and AltaVista search results pages.
Other Egghead.com promotions will appear on Yahoo!’s front page and throughout the Yahoo! and Netscape “New” and “Cool” areas.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Egghead.com, which also runs the www.surplusdirect.com and
www.surplusauction.com sales channels, recently signed its first major marketing alliance with C NET following the closure of its store doors.
