China Huaxu Golden Card Co. Ltd. and Motorola’s Smartcard Systems Business signed a
joint venture agreement in Beijing for cooperation on smart card opportunities
in China.
This is Motorola’s sixth joint venture in China and the first joint venture
integrating smart card design, manufacture, software development, systems
integration, and services.
The joint venture will provide smart card solutions and plans to facilitate
the acceptance of smart card applications among Chinese consumers. Potential
applications include identification, transportation, retail sales, finance,
healthcare, communications, and industry and commerce, the companies said.
“As a renowned enterprise in the industry, Huaxu will leverage Motorola’s
competencies in smart card technologies, management and systems integration,”
said Pan Lihua, general manager of Huaxu. “The combination of the two
companies’ resources will help to promote China’s information technology
initiative.”
Motorola is a total solutions provider in the smart card industry with a
portfolio of smart card products and systems ranging from combination
contacted/contactless cards, readers, and terminals to network infrastructure
and system integration services that support multiple smart card applications.
China Huaxu Golden Card, emerging from the original Taiji Computer Company
under the Ministry of Electronics Industry, specializes in smart card design
and production under the guidelines put forward by Premier Zhou Jiahua.
