InterWorld Corp. and Commerce One Inc. signed a strategic
marketing and technology alliance to support business-to-business trading
through Commerce One’s MarketSite Global Trading Portal, a U.S.-focused business-to-business
portal.
InterWorld’s (INTW) Commerce Exchange sell-side solution will provide suppliers with
seamless access to Commerce One (CMRC) MarketSite, as well as other
business-to-business Internet portals on the Commerce One Global Trading Web.
The aim is to improve online collaborative trading by reducing technology
barriers and operational costs, as well as to increase efficiencies by
automating the entire supply chain.
Financial arrangements between the companies were not disclosed.
InterWorld’s solution will also support Commerce One’s XML-standard, xCBL
(Common Business Library), and utilize Commerce One’s XCC (XML Commerce
Connector) tool kit to implement joint business libraries. In addition,
InterWorld and Commerce One will collaborate on XML schemas and business
document definitions and interfaces, enabling accurate document exchanges.
XML technology enables trading partners to transact business across
dissimilar applications, systems, software and documents.
“Commerce One and InterWorld are enabling open dynamic trading communities
in the business-to-business exchange space,” said Chuck Donchess, executive
vice president and chief strategy officer at Commerce One. “Together we
intend to provide customers and partners with an integrated solution that
helps to drive efficiency through their supply chain.”
Commerce One and InterWorld will also jointly invest in marketing and sales
tools to promote the combined Commerce One/InterWorld solution to each
other’s customers and customers’ suppliers.
