Microsoft Finalizes Yahoo Search Integration

Microsoft and Yahoo worked quickly. Just a week after the formal announcement that they had begun transitioning Yahoo’s search queries to Microsoft’s Bing technology, the companies have now completed the job, at least in the United States and Canada.

So now, Microsoft will perform the technical function of executing searches conducted on Yahoo’s Web pages. But Yahoo is quick to remind consumers and search marketers that it’s not out of the search game, not by a long shot. eCommerce Guide has the details.


Only a week after Yahoo and Microsoft announced they had begun transitioning Yahoo’s searches to Microsoft’s Bing search infrastructure, the companies have now confirmed that the integration of the back-end technology is complete.

“Today I am happy to share that Bing is powering Yahoo’s search results in the U.S. and Canada,” Satya Nadella, senior vice president of Microsoft’s (NASDAQ: MSFT) Online Services Division, said in a post on the http://www.bing.com/community/blogs/search/archive/2010/08/23/exciting-news-from-bing-and-yahoo.aspx”>Bing Community Blog Tuesday.
