National Registry Inc. said it signed a letter of intent to license a substantial number of its biometric
software suites to Who? Vision Systems Inc., a provider of fingerprint
authentication devices for e-commerce.
Expected to be finalized within 30 days, the multi-million dollar agreement
(specifics were not disclosed) will mark the first major alliance to employ
the recently announced Human Authentication Application Program Interface (HA-API) for enterprise and electronic commerce applications, the company said.
Irvine, CA-based Who? Vision Systems Inc. is a personal identification company that applies proprietary imaging technologies to create fingerprint
authentication products. An XL Vision and Safeguard Scientifics partnership
company, Who? Vision was formed in 1997 to develop and commercialize a
breakthrough approach to fingerprint authentication.
National Registry’s NRIdentity Secure Authentication Facility software suite
delivers secure access control to a range of software platforms and network
applications, including Microsoft Windows NT and Internet Information Server.
Combined with Who? Vision’s fingerprint hardware technology–TactileSense–the suite will provide end-to-end fingerprint security applications that are
cost-effective and reliable, the companies said.
“NRI clearly offers the most comprehensive biometric authentication software
suite available today,” said Alex Dickinson, CEO of Who? Vision Systems. “We
look forward to delivering a complete fingerprint security solution to broad
commercial applications.”
NRI provides biometric technology to verify individual identity; to protect
business and personal information; and to replace passwords and PINs to
safeguard and simplify access to electronic systems.
