OnlineChoice and Lycos Inc. Monday reached a strategic agreement to launch a co-branded Web site.

OnlineChoice uses the Internet to pool consumers nationwide to maximize their buying power by driving down commodity prices through a supplier-driven reverse auction.

The new site will allow consumers to purchase vital services like electricity, natural gas, gasoline and home security systems. OnlineChoice and its services will be integrated throughout the Lycos Network and will be available to the more than 32 million monthly Lycos users. The agreement allows Lycos to enter the demand aggregation market.

“We are excited about this move into the aggregate demand market and have found an ideal teammate in OnlineChoice,” said Richard Gotham, vice president of e-commerce sales for Lycos.

Gotham said that Lycos believes the e-commerce arena will make significant moves in the aggregate demand market in the coming months.
