Osprey Systems Launches E-Business Solutions Division

Osprey Systems Inc. a Charlotte,
NC-based systems integrator, launched a new Electronic Business Solutions
Division to provide its clients with the hardware, software and support
necessary to conduct business over the Internet.

Tom H. Wilson Jr., a 14-year IBM veteran with sales and marketing experience,
has been named vice president of the new division and will lead the
development of the business.

Osprey created the new unit to help customers choose, install and implement
systems that link employees, suppliers, trading partners, and customers over
the Internet. By integrating relevant business data from existing enterprise
computing with the power of the Internet, e-business provides a company with
an inexpensive way to communicate its marketing message, capture orders,
expand its sales channel and extend its reach beyond the conventional methods
of doing business, the company said.

“The total e-commerce market is expected to reach $300 billion by the year
2000,” said Dave Rizzo, Osprey CEO. “While doing business over the Internet
may now be considered a competitive advantage, it won’t be long before it is a necessity for both business-to-business and business-to-consumer trading.”

Osprey has chosen to resell three e-commerce software solutions in order to
accommodate a diverse range of client needs.

Pandesic, developed by Intel Corp. and SAP America Inc., is a turnkey e- business product that automates all processes associated with electronic commerce. For clients requiring highly flexible and customizable systems, Osprey offers IBM’s Net.Commerce, featuring a packaged set of integrated software components that provide tools for advanced catalog creation and back-end integration.

Osprey’s E-business Division also resells Microsoft’s Site Server Commerce
Edition. All three solutions offered by Osprey support industry standard security features.

“E-business is not about technology,” said Osprey’s Tom Wilson, “it’s about
growing your business and increasing profits.” Wilson comes to Osprey after
serving in Charlotte as IBM’s senior location executive for sales and services as well as business unit executive, AS/400 sales, for the Southern Area.
